NATIONAL PONY SOCIETY SUMMER SHOW 2007 - MALVERN HIGHLAND PONY SHOW 2007 AND PONIES UK 2007

Judging committments have meant that I been unable to attend many shows this year - perhaps a blessing due to the horrible weather we have had - but ponies attended the above three shows with their very trusty carers - I think I only saw one class at all of the above shows!!, being Show Director for the NPS, Secretary for Malvern HPS and Ring C-Ordinator for PUK

However, didn't they do well

Lochlands Banjo qualified for both the Ridden Silver Medal final and the Templeton O Neil Open final at NPS. He came a very creditable third in the Silver Medal, but the highlight of his show was coming second in the Adult and Child during the Evening Performance -

Ffrica of Forglen - qualified for the Junior, Templeton O Neil and Inhand Silver Medal. She was placed in all three finals, coming a fab 6th in the Silver Medal from a very strong class and her highlight was definitely winning the Pairs with Alice on Guiniviere of Whitefield - as pictured on the front page

Ffrica has since gone on the Ponies UK where she once again won her section of the Kingsford Final which she won back in 2005

MANY MANY THANKS TO EMILY AND ELEANOR FOR MAKING SUCH A GOOD JOB OF THESE TWO FAB PONIES

SAILNADENE
1985 - 2007

Salina was a special pony from the moment of her birth. Her breeder, Scott McGregor of Ballinton, spotted her as one to watch and he was not to be disappointed.

By Dougaldene out of Emerald-dene, Salina was supposed to be named after the then well known Selina Scott, but a slip of the pen produced the name "Salina". She was known as Sal.

A versatile pony, she was a brood mare and was ridden in the years she was yeld. In 1992, she had been served but was scanned not in foal and so set off on her career under saddle in 1993. After the in hand class at Fife Show, her producer felt there was something not right about Salina and asked the vet to check her out. He advised on taking her home as she was literally about to foal!! The resultant foal proved to be Salina's legacy to the Highland Pony Breed: Fyfedene.

Salina had many excellent results both in hand and under saddle, having been In Hand Champion and Reserve Ridden Champion at Doune & Dunblane in 1992, Supreme M&M Ridden at Braco and Ridden Champion at Scottish Horse Show both in 1995.

Her crowning glory came in 2000, when Scott entered her for RHS as he wanted to exhibit her foal, Josethdene. He was amazed and delighted when, as a fifteen year old, she won the Female Championship and went on to be Overall Highland Pony Champion.

When Scott decided to relocate his stud in Australia, he felt that Salina was too old to cope with the journey and so Salina and her old friend, Dark Maiden of Kildavie, went to Debbie Spears in Buckinghamshire to live out the rest of their days.

Salina was a beautiful, correct mare and had a wonderful temperament. Above all, she was a great character.

On 20th March this year, Salina suddenly developed peritonitis and was humanely put down.

Thanks to Joan Alexander Fourmerk Stud for this Obituary

Lochlands Banjo - Now renamed Mr Boomerang

Once again Banjo has foiled his new owners into believing his wasn't happy and I understand being a bit of a tinker to ride!! - so I have personally bought him back! and will now remain with me.

Has a new Junior Jockey for this season called Hannah Murray who had her first outing with him at Patchetts and came a very creditably second

These highlands are rather clever little ponies!!
